Baja California Ports

Baja calls split between the Pacific side, where short cruises from Southern California turn around at Ensenada, and the Sea of Cortez, where ships anchor off Cabo, La Paz and Loreto. Much of the appeal is on the water, so boat trips with more people aboard are usually the thriftiest way to see it.

Baja California — FAQ

What is the least expensive way to see the arch at Cabo San Lucas?

Water taxis and glass-bottom boats from the marina make short loops past El Arco and Lover’s Beach, and they generally cost less than catamaran cruises with food and drinks. Snorkel stops and sunset sails add time and usually price.

Which Baja ports are good for wildlife on a budget?

La Paz and Loreto are both close to protected islands where sea lions and seabirds are common, and shared boat trips are the usual way out. In Ensenada, the drive to the La Bufadora blowhole is a simple, inexpensive half day.
